| 1st March 2010: Resurrection Video Of The Day: To Be Loved by Papa Roach with lyrics Ok, so I have been giving this blogging business a bit of thought. And a bit of research. I looked over The State Of The Blogosphere 2009 by Technorati. And I found this blog was lacking a little. Well, ok, in most areas this blog was lacking. However, there was one little tidbit of joy. It appears that this blog has all the foundations to do well because a lot of the technologies people are using for their blogs are being used on this blog. Interesting. Stuff liek RSS, Commenting, Traffic Counting. But there were things lacking. For example photos. Apparently very successful blogs use photos. I'd never noticed this, but hey, what's the worst that can happen? But then I got a revelation. Because another technology successful bloggers use is video. Now, I have been using video for a LONG time. Since before this blog had it's own domain. I even tried bending Microsoft's coding restrictions to allow it on MSN Spaces when it first started. I digress. That is another hit I have. And then I hit gold. Successful bloggers blog more often than non successful bloggers. Ok, so that shouldn't have been a surprise to me. But it doesn't always follow either. I mean, we all know Jeremy Clarkson. He does a 1 hour show several times a year and writes one column a week for The Sun and one article a month for Top Gear Magazine. But then you have the writers at The Daily Sport. They write day in day out. Neither are journalistic standards to worry Tony Parsons, but surely by writing lots, The Daily Sport writers should be better known. So I am going to try a little experiment. And a challange to myself. Regulars will know I am not very good at writing consistently. I regularly take 3 or 4 days off from blogging. Not any more. I am setting myself the challange of blogging every day. And blogging often. Now, my first thought was to split every story into a post. And I may go that way. But only if I can make each post a decent-ish size. I.e.: Not too small, not too big. And then every day put all this content into a podcast. Lastly, I've decided that I am going to bite the bullet and try and make some money from this lil blog o'mine. But there are technical challanges with this! And yes, I do see making money from a blog as purely a technical challange. Other than content, and I know people like my content, there is nothing technological, financial, or even supernatural which is fundementally different from this blog and blogs which make insane money. Well, ok, I am less of an advertising whore, but that can change (or not, I do actually care about asthetics...) Anyway, here is my problem - due to the contract between me and Bidvertiser.com, I cannot tell you to click those ads above this section. But I do have a raft of solutions of my own. Stuff from the old blog. Stuff which is new. The Store Manager is about to kick into action. Big time. And those who remember me from the old blog might remember how determined I can be when I become passionate about something. Well...I am passionate about this. My mindset before was that this was my business and I was determined to succeed. This has changed. This is my business. I am determined to succeed, and this time I have nothing to lose and everything to gain, so I am going at it hell for leather. Oh, and if I make it, the fanatics of this blog (you know who you are) get the first rides in my sports car. Could be interesting in Milan... Permalink |
